“You Will Be Students for Life”
Salih Çanlar and Fadilah Ahmed delivered speeches on behalf of EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty first year students. EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora addressed the students stating that they started their profession the day that they stepped into the faculty. Noting that wearing a white coat means signing an invisible agreement, Prof Dr. Gökçora described those who sign this agreement as agreeing to do all they can to ease the pain of other individuals, to be a student throughout their lives in order to follow rapid scientific developments in the field and to promise to work in order to remove factors that lead to bad health with the realization that preventing illnesses is more important than treating them. Prof Dr. Gökçora went on to state: “This white coat will provide you the opportunity to earn the respect, gratitude and blessing of others. Saving lives and helping people who require it will make you happy. Sensing the gratitude in the eyes of a masked child, the tongue of an old woman or the screams of a new baby will be an indescribably positive feeling.
“We Will Reach a High Place in the Field”
EMU’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özkaramanlı started his speech by wishing all medical staff a happy 14th of March Medicine Day. Prof. Dr. Özkaramanlı proceeded to state that despite being founded only six years ago the EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty has achieved great success. Prof. Dr. Özkaramanlı underlined that the university’s medicine program was featured on the World Directory of Medical Schools and that EMU students can apply for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) with Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificates, therefore they can specialize in the USA. Stating that they are proud to be graduating their first students this year, Prof. Dr. Özkaramanlı emphasized that they will bring the EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty to a high place in a field which is globally very competitive.
