The degree in Medicine is offered as a joint degree with Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. Education of the students at EMU and Marmara Campus is led in full collaboration. The language of education is English and Turkish language courses are offered to our international students during the first 3 years of their medical education .
Our dynamic and experienced teaching staff deliver high quality training in state of the art multidiscipinary labs, with small group teaching rooms and lecture theaters. With a student centered approach, our teaching program integrates trainings on patient-doctor relationships, communication skills and applications of advanced technology to medicine.
Students acquire skills in practical applications of the medical profession from the first day. We support personal and professional development of our students with interactive modules and research supervision. Our students develop skills in analytical and critical thinking, team work, public leadership, research methods and learn about social concepts in medicine. The curriculum comprises of courses like evidence-based medical practice, research methodology, ethics and human sciences, information technology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, and preparation for the clinical years through practical and communication skills training through simulated patient exercises. Here, our main goal is to create a world re-known state of art faculty of medicine that supports contemporary and continuing education based on advanced research and science, student centeredness and modern medical practices. Research is one of our top priorities and from the first day of their education our students are introduced into conducting research projects in teams under the supervision of experienced mentors and encouraged to present their work at national and international student cogresses. Our Medical Student Research Club organizes a Medical Students' Conference every year, this year the dates have been announced to be May 4-6 2017.
We welcome students from many parts of the world and among you we have students from Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Cyprus.... we also have among us some students who are from war ridden countries such as as Syria. We have all seen the suffering of the refugees and some of us have experienced it at first hand, and we are deeply saddened by the bodies of little children that we lost in the long journey across the Mediterranean sea. As future doctors, you have a big responsibility on your shoulders to help ease the suffering of the people in the world not only by developing outstanding professional skills and putting your professional skills in practice with compassion and with a deep respect for people's lives, lifelong commitment and work ethics.
At medical school, we encourage our students to go beyond the acquisition of mere medical knowledge. Here at EMU, our students also have the opportunity to become part of and contribute to a rich multicultural environment which will help them cultivate empathy, understanding and respect towards differences and diversity.
Medicine requires lifelong learning. Our purpose is to train highly qualified, exemplary doctors who have a strong commitment for good medical practice. Our graduates will lead the way for public health solutions, demonstrate the highest ethical and analytical standards and adopt the most advanced techology for their every day practice. Our graduates will qualify as doctors in North Cyprus and Turkish Republic of Turkey with a joint diploma accrediated by the Turkish Higher Education Council.
Again, I would like to thank all for choosing EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine and wish you best in your studies.
