Dean's Message

 Doc.Dr. Emre HAMURTEKİN      Dean

Dear Future Doctor Candidates,

Eastern Mediterranean University, which started its academic activities in 2012-2013 with the principle of educating modern doctors and scientists equipped with the highest level of knowledge, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine is pleased to embrace you with its qualified staff and physical infrastructure. Throughout this process, our faculty has adopted the principle of student-oriented education with a strong corporate culture and identity. In addition, it has become a preferred medical faculty, which is a leader in its region and highly recognized in the world, which educates multi - faceted, researcher physicians, who pursue the path of science, have a high level of knowledge and skills and also hold ethical principles at the highest level. Our faculty, strengthened every year with this vision, starts every academic year with the same excitement and motivation.

Our language of education is in English. Apart from the English preparatory class, our six-year medical education is an International Joint Medical Program in collaboration with Istanbul Marmara University School of Medicine. Our graduates are given a diploma of the joint program approved by YÖK (Higher Education Council) when they complete their medical education. Our English preparatory and pre-clinical three-year training program takes place at Eastern Mediterranean University Dr. Fazil Küçük Medical School, while the last three years of clinical training period is completed at Istanbul Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey. Our team of distinguished faculty members, each of whom has a reputation in their field, offers contemporary medical education to future doctors in laboratories equipped with the latest technology in accordance with the National Core Medical Education Program within the Faculty of Medicine of Eastern Mediterranean University.

Our International Joint Medical Program is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education, The Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research, and included in The WDOMS-World Directory of Medical Schools.  In addition, our faculty holds the ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certificate. By this way, our graduates have the opportunity to apply for Medical Doctor's license (USMLE) exams in the United States to do their specialization in the United States and continue their medical profession there.

In addition to teaching students with the most up-to-date knowledge with a method that integrates basic medical sciences and clinical sciences during their education, we train our students as individuals with high communication skills, awareness of their ethical responsibilities, questioning and awareness that they should take scientific research activities together. To this end, our training program operates in an environment where case studies involving problem-based teaching methods are used in our faculty, as well as scientific research projects conducted in groups (Introduction to Clinical Skills-Research) each year under the leadership of experienced academic supervisors. These scientific studies are presented at Marmara University Student Congress (MASCO) and Eastern Mediterranean International Medical Students Congress (DAUTOK) and the most valuable studies are published in international scientific journals. Thus, our graduates, who are trained in a multidimensional way, will serve to public health with their academic identity as a general practitioner, after their specialisations as doctors or as academicians after completing their post-graduate education.

I would like to thank once again to our esteemed doctor candidates who will make great contributions to the society as a doctor and a scientist after their graduation for choosing Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine.
