Preventive Medicine Training for Children by EMU’s Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine

Op. Dr. Didem Rıfkı, otorhinolaryngology and head-neck surgeon and a lecturer at Eastern Mediterranean University’s (EMU) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine, visited Polatpaşa Primary School located in Famagusta on October 15^th, 2018 (08:30).  Op. Dr. Rıfkı emphasised the importance of establishing health awareness at early ages and currently aims to accomplish this goal by visiting different institutions from elementary schools to universities.  Op. Dr. Rıfkı mentioned the importance of decreasing the number of risk factors for disease prevention and pressed on the critical importance of taking disease related precautions to preserve communal health.

“We Will Continue Raising Awareness”

During her visit at Polatpaşa Primary School, Op. Dr. Rıfkı informed the students on what they can do to avoid upper respiratory tract infections and, as per the duties of a preventive medicine practiser, put emphasis on hand-washing. Op. Dr. Rıfkı stated that hand-washing is the easiest and cheapest method of infection avoidance and expressed the dramatic decrease of this communal issue which will occur if the subject is drawn enough attention to. Op. Dr. Rıfkı underlined the fact that as EMU’s Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine, they will continue to work on increasing awareness on these deficient subjects.
