Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine at Eastern Mediterranean University, in collaboration with Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, offers a comprehensive 6-year International Joint Medical Program designed to meet the requirements of modern medical education and prepare future physicians. Our program is crafted with an innovative and integrated approach, providing opportunities for scientific, professional, and personal development.
Structure and Approach to Education
The 6-year program is structured into three phases (Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3) organized and leveled with horizontal and vertical integration to achieve educational objectives.
Preclinical Phase (Phase 1): Focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes through Course Committees, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Introduction to Clinical Skills, and Elective Programs. It supports learning processes with horizontally integrated methods in basic medical sciences and behavioral sciences.
Clinical Phase (Phases 2 and 3): Provides advanced education through Clerkship Programs, Professional Development and Mentorship, and Elective Programs, enabling students to gain professional competencies and proficiencies.
The program is structured in alignment with graduation outcomes and regularly updated to comply with national core education programs.
Language of Instruction
The medium of instruction in our faculty is English, facilitating the academic success of international students. Additionally, to ease communication in Turkey’s healthcare environment, international students are required to demonstrate Turkish language proficiency.
Learning Approaches
- Learner-Centered Education: Interactive methods that encourage active participation and problem-solving skills are applied at all stages.
- Integrated Education: Horizontal and vertical integration of basic, clinical, and social sciences is ensured.
- Task-Based Education: Prepares students for professional roles after graduation.
Differentiated Educational Practices
- Elective Courses: A wide range of electives is offered in each phase, allowing students to tailor their learning experience to their interests.
- Community Health-Oriented Education: Students engage with community health issues early in their training, developing relevant skills in this field.
- Distance Education: Advanced digital infrastructure enables the delivery of certain program content online.
Continuous Assessment and Development
Our program is constantly renewed and developed through regular feedback mechanisms and evaluation processes, adapting to the needs of graduates and students.
Our faculty not only imparts medical knowledge but also equips future physicians with ethical, social, and personal competencies to support their professional success.
