European Researchers' Night Event

With the support of the European Commission, the European Researchers' Night Event about environment and climate change was arranged on Friday, September 27^th at the Nicosia Bandabulya Stage. Eastern Mediterranean University, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty researchers Asst. Assoc. Dr. Mümtaz Güran and his doctoral student Gizem Şanlıtürk made a presentation and shared preliminary data of their studies which are planned to last for 3 years. In this project, seawater and sand samples collected from different Mediterranean coasts and microbiological analysis of the presence of 3 different pathogenic bacteria and resistance to various antibiotics were investigated which took attention during the night. The researchers plan to associate the microbiological data which will be obtained for 3 years, with different parameters (such as high temperatures and precipitation) caused by climate change.
