Problem Based Learning (PBL)

PBL (Problem Based Learning) is a student and problem centred teaching model that holds a constructive teaching approach. It is a new method for participative learning where students have the chance to improve theoretical knowledge, communication and problem solving skills necessary for professional medical careers. In this model, a problem focused scenario is taken as the basis and learning is facilitated via group dynamics among students.  In Problem Based Learning, students and tutors have to approach problems with successful methodology, work in groups and adapt to group dynamics.   The success of the development process depends on students and teachers acting along the defined roles as group members, discussion leaders and note takers. The skills acquired during the modules are a fundamental part of the learning process. This process enables the students and the teachers to critically evaluate how they participate individually and as team leaders/members.
