International students Visiting Cyprus as part of the ‘American Youth Leadership Program’ (AYLP) explored Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Dr. Fazil Kucuk Faculty of Medicine. AYLP is a program funded by the USA Foreign Secretary. The trip to Cyprus allows students to familiarise themselves with the Cypriot culture and environment.

As part of the program taking place between the 10th and 30th of July 2016, the students are engaging in a series of cultural activities whilst being educated about the environment. The group consisting of 16 American high school students and 5 adults visited the EMU Dr. Fazil Kucuk Faculty of Medicine, examining the facilities and receiving a debriefing from the staff.

During the visit, Vice Dean of EMU Dr. Fazil Kucuk Faculty of Medicine, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mevhibe Banu Hocaoglu gave a seminar informing the students about environmental factors, and the effect they have on one’s health. The students also explored the EMU Dr. Fazil Kucuk Faculty of Medicine laboratories and gathered technical information about their infrastructure.
